TackOn Live (live.tackon.org) lets organisers run live quizzes that players join on their phones. This policy explains what personal data the service collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it. It is written for both organisers (people who set up and host quizzes) and players (people who join them).

In short: we collect only what is needed to run a quiz and give the organiser their results. Player records are deleted automatically 30 days after a quiz session. If a player chooses to share their result, the result picture (quiz name, rank or score and the player's name) is stored for 30 days so that the shared link can show it as a preview, and is then deleted automatically. We do not sell personal data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

1. Who we are

TackOn Live is run by TACK ON KNOWLEDGE SOLUTIONS (OPC) PRIVATE LIMITED (“TackOn”, “we”, “us”), CIN U80900TG2021OPC147665, 3-9-226, Flat No. 408, Maram GL Heavens 2, Central Bank Colony, Road No. 2, Hyderabad, Telangana 500068, India.

When an organiser — a school, company, event or individual — runs a quiz on TackOn Live, the organiser decides what details to collect from players and what to do with the results. For player data, the organiser is the data fiduciary and TackOn processes the data on the organiser’s behalf. For organiser accounts and for this website, TackOn is the data fiduciary.

2. What we collect

From organisers

• Your email address and name, used to sign in (by an email code, Google or Facebook).
• The quizzes you create: names, settings, colours, questions, answers, translations and any pictures, audio or video you link from Google Drive.

From players

• The joining details the organiser asks for — for example name, school, class, city, email or phone number. The organiser chooses these fields.
• If the quiz requires sign-in: your verified email address.
• Your answers, the time taken for each, your points, rank and number of attempts.
• A random device identifier kept in your browser, so you can rejoin the same quiz from the same phone.

From signed-in players (My profile)

• If you are signed in when you join a quiz, that quiz, the name you used, your score and your rank are listed under your account, so you can see them in My profile on any phone. For a quiz that does not ask for sign-in, your email is not given to its organiser — it is only used for your own list.
• The joining details you gave (such as name, school or city) are saved to fill in the next join form for you. Phone numbers, email addresses and dates are never saved this way. You can edit or clear them in My profile.

From everyone

• Standard technical data your browser sends, such as IP address and browser type, used to keep the service running and to stop abuse.
• Small settings stored in your browser (language, music on/off, your sign-in). These are not used for tracking.

We do not ask for payment details, government ID numbers, health information or other sensitive data to run a quiz. Organisers should not collect them through joining forms.

3. Why we use it

• To run the quiz: show questions, receive and mark answers, calculate scores and standings.
• To give the organiser their results, including the Excel download of players’ details, answers, timings and points.
• To let organisers sign in and manage their quizzes.
• To support organisers when they ask for help. TackOn’s owner account can open any organiser’s quiz for support; every such visit is recorded in an access log.
• To keep the service secure and working, and to meet our legal obligations in India.

We use your data on the basis of your consent (given when you sign up, join a quiz or submit a joining form) and for the legitimate purpose of running the quiz the organiser set up. We do not make automated decisions with legal effects about you.

4. Who we share it with

• The organiser of the quiz you join — they see your joining details, answers and scores, and can download them.
• Other players see the names shown on the standings.
• Zoho Corporation (Zoho Catalyst), which hosts the service and its data in India, and Zoho ZeptoMail, which sends sign-in codes by email.
• Google and Meta (Facebook), only if you choose to sign in with them, and Google Drive, from which an organiser’s linked media is copied.
• Bhashini (Government of India’s language platform), which receives quiz question text for translation when an organiser turns on other languages. No player data is sent.
• Authorities, where Indian law requires us to disclose.

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with advertisers.

5. How long we keep it

• Player records (joining details, answers, scores) are deleted automatically 30 days after the quiz session they belong to. Organisers should download their results within that time.
• Quizzes and questions are kept until the organiser deletes them.
• Organiser accounts are kept until you ask us to delete them.
• My profile: the list of quizzes you played while signed in is kept for one year from each quiz; saved joining details are kept until you clear them. You can delete both yourself in My profile.
• Support access logs are kept for about 13 months.
• Records we must keep for tax and audit are kept as long as Indian law requires.

Results an organiser has downloaded are held by the organiser under their own policies.

6. How we protect it

Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Quiz questions are stored encrypted. Media files are kept in private storage and shown through short-lived links. Each organiser can see only their own quizzes; access by TackOn for support is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

7. Children

School quizzes on TackOn Live are set up by schools or competition organisers. The organiser is responsible for obtaining a parent’s or guardian’s consent where a player is under 18, and should collect only the details they need. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children without that consent. If you believe we have, write to us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent, and you can nominate someone to act for you. Write to us with the email or name you used and the quiz code if you have it. We reply within 30 days, free of charge. For player data, we may pass your request to the organiser who ran the quiz, and we will tell you if we do. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

9. Cookies and browser storage

TackOn Live uses only the browser storage needed for it to work: your sign-in, your device identifier for rejoining, your language and sound settings. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Clearing your browser storage signs you out.

10. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and show the date at the top. If a change affects data you have already given us, we will tell organisers by email.
